3 Dream Killers (and how to win the fight against them)

What is KILLING YOUR DREAM-

You have a dream?  Then there is a killer who is after it!  Here are a few dream killers and a word about how to defeat them.

Killer #1:  Fear –  Fear is a great paralyzer.  If you don’t move then your dream can’t grow.  Fear creates situations and circumstances that don’t even exist.  Fear uses smoke and mirrors to convince you that every obstacle is insurmountable; that every pitfall is an endless abyss; that every set back is an eternally closed door.  Fear is a liar.  When we operate by fear, we believe in a lie.  Dreams from the true and living God don’t operate in an atmosphere of lies.  So, when fear moves in for the kill, surprise the hell out of fear!  Call on courage and move forward – in spite of fear.  Psalm 56:3 says, “When I am afraid I put my trust in You.”

Killer #2:  Finances – Before I talk about finances let me remind you of this – you didn’t buy your dream.  It was a gift.  The giver of that gift has unlimited resources.  I know the frustration of being ready to launch out into the deep, but not being able to afford a stitch of swim gear.  I know that money is needed to further your dream (and mine) so I want to encourage those who are weary in the waiting time.  God can give you finances at any time. So when the well is extremely dry and your dream is dying of thirst, I want you to prepare your heart to receive by meditating on this: “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.”   and Hebrews 11:1and 6 “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see… And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”  Lack of finances can only kill the dreams of those who lack faith.

Killer #3  Freedoms – Freedoms (yes freedoms) can be a killer.  God has given us all free will.  We can choose to follow through or not.  We can choose to work on our dream or we can slack.  We are free to believe fear.  We can choose to embrace discouragement when finances don’t come through.  We can also walk away from our dream altogether whenever we get good and doggone tired of it.  You are free to do that.  That very freedom can  be a detriment if we don’t stay rooted in the true motive of our heart concerning our dreams.  If your dream is to glorify God through your gifting then your life is connected to your dream.  So many people commit spiritual suicide by being out of place instead of trusting the process on the road to seeing the full dream come to pass – but we are all free to make that choice.  1 Corinthians 10:23-24 has a word for our freedom:  “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive. No one should seek their own good, but the good of others.”  Yes, it seems easier to quit, but there is someone on the other side of your dream who needs you to stick it out.  It’s up to you, but freedom can serve you much better when it is surrendered to the will of God.

Just because a killer is on the loose, doesn’t mean you are a goner.  Just because there is a threat doesn’t mean the dream is a done deal.  I believe the bible says it like this, “No weapon formed against you {or your dream} shall prosper.”  You have what it takes to lock up this killer.  Let’s go! Your dream is worth protecting. Get tough.  Suit up!   “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”  Your dream will live.  Keep your dream safe from these killers!  Fight in faith and watch God keep your dreams alive and thriving!
