Learn How to Dream

Every moment you spend dreaming is time well spent.  I was talking to a friend recently and she was sharing with me her frustration.  She wanted to be doing something to further her dream.  Her frustration clued me into a problem that I share.  Sometimes I don’t know how to dream.     I want to share a few thoughts  to encourage you and move you closer to your dream. 1.  Dream. Allowing your heart to embrace big vision from God is prayer.   Receiving an outlook that is bigger than your present situation can be God’s way of enlarging…

Is Your Dream Dying?

I’m going to write today.  I don’t care if all I do is type a few lines, I’ve purposed in my heart to glorify God this way and that is just what I am going to do.  If it is not perfect or interesting or all together lovely so-be-it.  I’m going to write today. With my writing, I find myself stuck at times.  I find myself in a state where I feel like I have nothing at all to say.  I get discouraged.   I get into a writer’s block room and I feel like the walls are closing in….

Ministry: Can You Handle the Lifting?

2 Timothy 4:2 – 4 Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage–with great patience and careful instruction.  For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. God gave each of us a job.  Let me go through the job description listed in this verse.  Are you up for the challenge of accepting this…

Walking Dead or Alive?

2 Timothy 3:1-5 NIV But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. Can you see the last days playing out before us.  When I watch the news I see robberies, shootings, reality shows that highlight disrespectful children, disrespect for…

Got Beauty?

How does God make something beautiful? I wondered about this?  I struggled with this.  I watched alot of HGTV when we used to have cable.  The thing that intrigued me the most were makeover shows.  I loved to see spaces repurposed and trash made new.  I loved watching the designers hunt for junk at the thrift stores and junk yards and turn them into treasure. I love to watch it.  I get inspired watching it happen.  Then, I go out to the stores to look for things to makeover and I just don’t get the same inspiration.  What I see…

Don’t Cry for Me.

I can’t even imagine watching anyone that I love be whipped and mocked and tormented and bullied and battered and killed.   I don’t even want to think about it.  Every witness of the crucifixion of Jesus was either disturbed, entertained, or indifferent while watching the events take place.  One think that Jesus says in Luke 23 bothers me every now and then.  Today was one of those days when the word just kind of crept up on me and irritated me.  I just didn’t get it.  I’m not sure I get it, but I want to share what I…

The Cure for Heart Problems

We’ve talked about four symptoms of a heart problem:  1. You think God is punishing you.  2.  You are asking God “Why me?“ 3. You feel unsatisfied.  4.  You feel hopeless.   (Click the symptom you want to hear more about.)  The symptoms are what tip you off to what is happening in the center of it all.  The heart.  The Bible says that, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?”  Just when this truth gets you feeling like the condition of your heart is final, God tells us the cure for this sick,…

Four Symptoms of A Heart Problem (Part 2)

The last post began looking at symptoms of a heart problem.  If you missed it, check it out here. The second two symptoms are probably more common conditions of the heart that sometimes go unnoticed. Symptom #3  You feel unsatisfied. Do you feel empty?  Do you feel like you need to search for something to make you feel whole?  It is difficult to really get a pulse on life when that hollow feeling plagues you.  There is constantly a search for something that will make you feel satisfied.  Some people turn to work, or hobbies, or church activities.  Some people…

Four Symptoms of a Heart Problem (Part 1)

Warning signs can save your life.  Many of us keep pushing along and ignore God’s warning signs that there is a problem.  We look at the outward situations – relationships, finances, failures, disappointments – but many times those are just surface issues to point back to the root of the problem – our hearts.  Here are four symptoms that point to some serious heart problems in need of attention right away.  To some they may sound crazy, to others they may sound very familiar, but we all can agree these symptoms are dangerous. Symptom #1 – You think God is…

Protect your Valuables

2 Timothy 1:13-14 What you heard from me keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you – guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. ARE YOUR VALUABLES SAFE? When something is good – when something is valuable – you cannot store it without safeguarding it. Ifeveryone knew I kept my million dollar stash in an unlocked barn that was unsecured – what do you think would happen? People would help themselves to all of it because it was available. If…
