Got Beauty?
How does God make something beautiful?
I wondered about this? I struggled with this. I watched alot of HGTV when we used to have cable. The thing that intrigued me the most were makeover shows. I loved to see spaces repurposed and trash made new. I loved watching the designers hunt for junk at the thrift stores and junk yards and turn them into treasure.
I love to watch it. I get inspired watching it happen. Then, I go out to the stores to look for things to makeover and I just don’t get the same inspiration. What I see when I walk into the junk yard is a bunch of junk (and germs, but that’s another story). I just don’t see the vision for making things beautiful.
God sees you in your current condition. He sees you laying in the junkyard of sin. The thrift store of regret. The landfill of life’s bad choices. He sees you in your current condition, but knows your kingdom value. He sees your beauty and your battle and beckons you to choose Him. He has already chosen you. He isn’t concerned with the scratches, dents, dings, or wounds. He isn’t concerned about what you have done, or haven’t done. He knows your past, and also knows your future with Him.
You are His dream come true. But you have a choice. Do you want to be made over? Do you want to be made whole?
You know how God makes us beautiful. His love helps us to see ourselves through His eyes.
Struggling with your beauty inside and/or out?
Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”
He knows your makeover story. He knows just the thing to make this story have a beautiful ending. He saw you right where you were and knew every word in the book of your story. He makes everything beautiful in its time.
So lift up your hands. In the midst of brokenness. Covered with the dust of renovation. Lift up your eyes. In the cover of the darkest night. In the middle of the most tears you ever cried.
You are not junk. You are not a throw away. You are a treasure and the Master Designer has come to rescue you. He wants to make you beautiful – so you can see what He sees in you.
How does He make us beautiful? When we give Him our preconceived notions. When we give Him our mourning, our mistakes, our failures, our grief and our despair. This is how He does it.
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.
He makes us beautiful to shine for His glory. If this is your struggle, cry out – MAKE ME BEAUTIFUL GOD! He will do it! His Word promises it.
