How to Give Priceless Gifts for Christmas Day 5

As followers of Christ we are passionate about keeping CHRIST in CHRISTmas. That phrase is a mere cliche’ unless there is some action behind it. This is probably one of the most radical gifts and the most rewarding. It is definitely one of the most difficult ones, but most fruitful. Today’s gift is: A Birthday Present for Jesus -Fasting!

During this season of feasting – begin a season of fasting.

Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.

While everyone else is getting fatter and fuller, is God calling you to get free? It’s a scary thought. Consider resisting the sugar coated temptations of the season, in favor of hearing from the one whose name is more than ornament on the holiday. For every Christmas party, family gathering, office meeting – I want you to pray about fasting from sweets or meats for a time to prepare for Christmas. You may want to consider fasting lunch, just to spend time in the Word each day. Perhaps it means partaking in smaller meals, cutting out snacks, anything to bring your mind and heart to Christ. Every temptation will cause you to lean on Christ. He is the reason for the season! Give up indulgence for a reminder of the reason that we truly celebrate.
