Protect your Valuables
2 Timothy 1:13-14
What you heard from me keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus.
Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you – guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in
us.
ARE YOUR VALUABLES SAFE?
When something is good – when something is valuable – you cannot store it without safeguarding it. If
everyone knew I kept my million dollar stash in an unlocked barn that was unsecured – what do you
think would happen? People would help themselves to all of it because it was available. If it was precious to me, I would take some measures to make sure it is safe. Right?
DO YOU SAFEGUARD WHAT YOU TREASURE?
If the Word of God is indeed, our treasure, our precious and valuable lifeline, then what do we do when someone teaches us the Word, breaks it open so that it saturates our heads and hearts then makes its way to our lives. How do we hold onto what has been deposited to us?
GOD’S LOCK BOX!
This verse tells us that we guard it with help from the guard of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. The Holy
Spirit is always on duty. He brings back to our remembrance those godly deposits, and life lessons that bear
witness to God’s work in our lives.
We have to be active in pursuing the safe keeping of the sound teaching by believing in Christ and living lives that depend on the good deposit that we have been trusted with.
HEART QUESTIONS
Do you value the Word that you have received? Did you hear it once and leave it out for the taking or did you meditate on it, pray about it, put it in action, seek the Holy Spirit to seal it in and protect it forever?
Guard that good deposit. He trusted you with it, and put the Holy Spirit on assignment to walk with you and keep His investment safe from the one who seeks to steal, kill and destroy. What we have heard – that is from Christ – we must keep safe through Christ and in Christ. Matthew 6:21 says – For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Is what you treasure worth the trouble of safe keeping? The choice is yours.
