Imagine Your Victory Freedom Pages

There is a Killer on the Loose

What if I told you there is someone out to get you?  Do you know there is a predator that wants to destroy you, your purpose and your destiny.  Would you leave your doors unlocked?  Would you cover your eyes and walk blindly into whatever happens?  Would you let your loved ones know that there was danger?

If you value your life you would prepare as best you can to be victorious if danger ensued.  You would be in a constant state of vigilance to make sure you didn’t go down without a fight.  RIGHT?  The Bible alerts us in 1Peter this way,

“Be alert and of sober mind.  Your enemy, the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.  Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”

Want victory?  There are four weapons that this verse highlights so we won’t be an easy target for the enemy.

  1. 1.        Be alert.
  • The opposite of alert is distracted.  If you are distracted you can’t respond quickly to dangerous or difficult situations.  You just get whatever comes your way.  When we are distracted our lives are at stake.  We have to make the choice to pay attention to what is going on – especially spiritually.  Distracted living is like distracted driving – the risk are foolish, too high and avoidable.

  1. 2.       Be sober.
  • The opposite of sober is intoxicated.  Sober minded people are aware of their choices; intoxicated people allow the substance to take control.  You can’t be alert if you are not sober.  You can not control the choices if you have surrendered your sobriety.  What have to be sober to guard ourselves against the killer on the loose.
  1. 3.       Resist the enemy.
  • Resist means to, “withstand the actions or effect of.”  Distraction and intoxication keep us from being vigilant and making the choices that help us to withstand the actions of the enemy.  We basically lay down our weapons and foolishly make ourselves easy prey for whatever comes our way when we are not alert and sober.  We become weak.  We become an easy target.
  1. 4.        Lean on the family.
  • Every one of us that are alert, sober, and resisting the enemy will get weary.  We will get angry.  We will get tired of fighting an enemy who wants to steal, kill and destroy us.  We must lean on the family of believers because TRULY they understand what you are going through and where our victory comes from.

There is a killer on the loose that wants to destroy you.  He is looking for someone to devour.  The one he goes for is distracted, intoxicated, not fighting back, and a loner.  Our alertness and sobriety are God given safety gear.  The enemy is looking for someone to tear to shreds.  Be cognizant that his desire is not to beat you up like a playground bully; his desire is to destroy you – he is a cold hearted, calloused, calculated murderer.  But you have a choice.  Resist the killer.  It sounds like common sense, but he dresses himself up and waits for you to be un-alert and un-sober which renders you least likely to fight back with success.  Stand firm against the one who desires to kill you.  The suffering that you have faced is just like the suffering of the rest of the believers.  God has given us GREAT ARMOR to stand firm in the army of the Lord.

There is a killer on the loose, but God has made his tactics known to those who are serious about living in victory.  Don’t be an easy target.  Don’t be easy prey.  Choose victory!

Hallelujah and Amen.
